Dear Sunny 100.1FM and 103.7 LiteFM,
First of all, I would like to welcome 103.7 LiteFM to my annual whine-fest. Enjoy.
Now for the good stuff.
We do this every year. I write a blogpost, usually accompanied by an email to your Program Director, and I always get feedback and a lovely attempt at justification as to why it is you guys feel the need to start Christmas music so freaking early. This year I really feel like I have a good point. I mean, the music started right after Halloween. HALLOWEEN. Why? Why. I just don’t get it. I get the whole “It-makes-people-feel-good” thing and I understand the economical excuse…kinda. But do you want people to stop listening before the actual holiday occurs? I know people who listen to the first cycle and then stop. I may or may not be one of those people.
Look, I’m a fan of both of your stations. I like the “non-seasonal” music and think y’all have a fair and balanced mix. But, I just can’t handle it. IT WAS OCTOBER! Ed Bostic and Al Haynes have swayed me over to Boomer 95.3 and I plan on staying there (switching, of course, between Ed and Al and Bear-Kissin’ 99.3) until Thanksgiving weekend.
Call me Ebenezer, but we are 2 weeks out from THANKSGIVING and I refuse to fall into this trap of rushing through my favorite holiday so we can get to spending the money and hanging the lights and blah blah blah blah blah. Don’t get me wrong, the Friday after Thanksgiving I will be all over some Christmas music with all the trimmings…but not until then.
Thank you for your time..
